Ultrasound Vascular Technologist Job Specialty:
Diagnostic Imaging Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: 1+ years of experience in ultrasound/sonography License: Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through ARDMS Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association Must-Have: - Knowledge of preps for each Radiology and Vascular/Cardiac U/S exams and procedures- Associate's Degree in Ultrasound/Sonography or Radiologic Technology or Certificate of completion of Ultrasound/Sonography or Radiologic Technology program
Job Description:
- Perform diagnostic general radiological procedures using imaging equipment to assist in diagnosing diseases and injuries.
- Conduct general, OB, and some vascular ultrasound and may perform breast ultrasound.
- Screen, schedule, and direct patients to appropriate locations and services within the Imaging Department.
- Maintain working knowledge of all Radiology and Vascular/Cardiac U/S exams and procedures.
- Assist in training new staff and schedule all Radiology and Vascular/Cardiac U/S exams.
- Acquire and process patient exams following accrediting bodies and department protocols.
- Select appropriate sonography protocols and techniques for optimal data acquisition.
- Review cases with radiologists when necessary and examine patient history for accurate exam performance.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of radiology orders and verify medical necessity.
- Seek additional information from patients, providers, or radiologists as needed.
- Critique imaging quality standards for positioning, technical factors, and alignment.
- Transfer and verify image data in PACS and other systems with necessary medical history for interpretation.
- Utilize web servers and email systems for preliminary readings after hours.
- Maintain imaging equipment and work environment, including supply inventories and workspace organization.
- Report equipment malfunctions and service needs promptly.
- Ensure safety of patients, visitors, and the environment; report safety events immediately.
- Assist in instructing students and new staff as necessary.
- May perform duties of Sono Lead or Imaging Coordinator in their absence.
- Meet productivity levels as established by department benchmarking.
- Assist other areas during downtimes to maintain productivity.
- May perform duties of cross-trained modalities within the department.
- Comply with job descriptions of cross-trained modalities as applicable. This role is an opportunity for individuals with a positive attitude and willingness to assess and improve the work environment while coordinating patient flow and a variety of technical procedures.
