Role Overview
The Buyer plays a crucial role in supporting manufacturing processes and achieving business unit goals. This position is responsible for managing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for specific product lines or commodities while ensuring customer satisfaction and cost management.
Key Responsibilities
Essential duties include:
- Achieving or surpassing performance metrics such as:
- Lead time reduction
- Supplier On-Time Performance
- Cost and Quality Management
- Scheduling Agreement / Vendor Managed Inventory Additions
- Overseeing daily activities, including:
- Management of purchased material master data
- Scheduling agreement oversight
- Implementation of cost reduction initiatives
- Supplier resourcing aligned with corporate commodity strategies
- Price negotiations and cost management
- Fostering key supplier relationships
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, logistics, or a related field is required, or 8+ years of relevant supply chain experience.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Proven experience in negotiation, planning, and analysis
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles
- Ability to interpret and communicate basic engineered drawings and specifications
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated with strong organizational capabilities
- Proven track record in developing effective processes and achieving results
- Influencing skills to secure resources and drive change
- Capability to multitask and work both collaboratively and independently
- Proficiency in MS Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction at all organizational levels
- Experience in implementing project plans and schedules
- Effective problem-solving abilities
- Experience with SAP is a plus
