As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for assisting in operative procedures, preparing materials and supplies, and maintaining aseptic technique. Your duties will include:

1. Performing delegated duties as a scrubbed member of the nursing team.

2. Assisting in clean-up of the operating room between cases and at the end of the daily schedule.

3. Participating in staff development programs to improve skills and patient care.

4. Maintaining and processing supplies and instruments required in the operating room.

5. Assisting in helping the surgeon accomplish a plan of care for the patient.

6. Observing and reporting breaks in sterile surgical procedure.

7. Emptying all linen and trash from operating rooms between cases.

8. Assisting in weekly and daily cleaning and restocking of the operating room as assigned.

9. Following established procedures as outlined in the operating room policy and procedure manual.

10. Assisting in the training of new employees through mentoring.

11. Demonstrating interpersonal skills that promote a team concept and resolving problems through the appropriate chain of command.

12. Performing all other duties assigned.

Requirements:

* High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of vocational and/or technical program in surgical technology.

* BCLS certification.

* One year of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist.

Knowledge/Abilities:

* Thorough knowledge of aseptic technique.

* Knowledge of surgical instruments and basic anatomy.

* Physical and mental endurance.

* Ability to apply scientific and technical principles to patient care.
