Position Overview:
This role may provide the opportunity for remote work based on the candidate's location in relation to an OSF HealthCare facility.
Standard working hours are Monday through Friday during the day; occasional weekend or evening shifts may be required for onsite tasks and system upgrades as needed.
Compensation for this position ranges from $133,307 to $156,852, with actual salary determined by experience, skills, and internal equity.
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Clinical Informatics Pharmacist integrates computer science, information management, and pharmaceutical knowledge to evaluate, structure, and model the processes by which pharmacists gather and manage data, transform data into actionable information, and apply this knowledge to enhance patient care decisions.
This position is dedicated to supporting clinical informatics initiatives within the pharmacy sector of OSF Ministry Acute Care Facilities.The focus of this role includes understanding the motivations behind computerized systems; analyzing, structuring, and modeling pharmacy information processing and knowledge across all pharmacy practice domains:
clinical practice, management, education, and research; exploring factors, conditions, elements, models, and processes to design, implement, and assess the effectiveness and efficiency of computerized information, communication, and network systems for pharmacy practice; and examining the impact of these systems on pharmacy operations and patient outcomes at OSF.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitates the support for pharmacy clinical informatics within OSF Ministry Services, organizing and assisting eCoaches at the point of care.
Provides expertise and leadership in identifying, developing, implementing, and sustaining efficient clinical information systems. Advocates for management in promoting the utilization of information technology in clinical environments. Evaluates and comprehends the pharmacy staff's engagement with and requirements for clinical information.
Represents Pharmacy Services by leading and participating in councils, committees, workgroups, and meetings to aid in the development of personnel, metrics, clinical tools, reports, and workflows.
Acts as a Credentialed Trainer, coordinating and delivering EHR training and support for pharmacy personnel at OSF acute care facilities for Willow and Beacon modules. Maintains Credentialed Trainer status and stays updated on EHR functionality as system updates occur.
Consults with leadership and development teams on workflow processes and technological solutions. Develops and implements educational strategies to enhance staff understanding and utilization of clinical information systems for patient care delivery.
Serves as a resource for pharmacy staff, assisting in resolving inquiries related to EHR, policies, procedures, and standards. Acts as a mentor to all staff and students.
Collaborates with IT to enhance, improve, and sustain the EHR System. Contributes to achieving the objectives of Pharmacy Services and the OSF System Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Generates and provides various reports for Drug Utilization Evaluations to monitor and audit efficacy, safety, and cost analysis.
Utilizes empirical and experiential knowledge to expand the scope and improve the quality of pharmacy practice for Pharmacy Services.Employs knowledge of clinical information systems and pharmacy practice to assist clinicians in delivering patient care by optimizing workflows to enhance patient outcomes.
Engages in continuous quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction, and optimizing the utilization of OSF Ministry's human, capital, and physical resources.
Qualifications:
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a hospital pharmacy setting
Skills/Knowledge:
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
Self-motivated with the capacity to prioritize workload, identify issues,
recommend improvements, and enhance pharmacists' utilization of available information.
Demonstrated capability to assess and identify educational needs, developing programs to address those needs.
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills to collaborate with pharmacy staff, nursing staff, managers, physicians, and administration, recommending and implementing information system changes.
Licensure/Certifications:
Current state licensure as a Pharmacist
Certified Credentialed Trainer in Epic or certification obtained within 1 year of hire into the position
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Completion of a Pharmacy Practice PGY1 residency
Experience: 5 years of clinical experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
Experience with electronic health records
Skills/Knowledge:
Completion of an informatics residency or possession of an informatics certificate
Licensure/Certifications:
Board Certification in a Pharmaceutical Specialty
