About the Job

As a Cytology Specialist, you will work closely with pathologists to prepare and interpret pap smears and body fluid specimens. You will train and supervise staff in cytology procedures, participate in EBUS procedures, and manage the cytology department, including regulatory compliance and budget. You will also maintain certification and accreditation activities required by accrediting agencies and the state and federal government.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and interpret pap smears and body fluid specimens
  • Train and supervise staff in cytology procedures
  • Participate in EBUS procedures
  • Manage the cytology department, including regulatory compliance and budget
  • Maintain certification and accreditation activities
Requirements
  • 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Cytology
  • 3 years of experience in cytology
  • Certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT-ASCP)
Working Conditions

You will work in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area with moderate noise levels. You may be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms. You may be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.

Physical Requirements
  • Near normal vision, including clarity of vision (both near and far)
  • Good manual dexterity and eye-hand-foot coordination
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks/motion
