Key Responsibilities of the Commercial Construction Cost Estimator:
- Prepare material and labor estimates for bids or proposals as needed from requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for quotations (RFQs), or client meetings for light commercial construction initiatives.
- Generate project estimates utilizing both traditional and innovative estimation techniques.
- Conduct material take-offs based on architectural drawings and specifications.
- Assist in developing proposal-level schedules.
- Support ongoing projects by preparing estimates for change orders and site directives.
- Keep updated records of current material costs and delivery timelines for commonly used products.
- Analyze project outcomes and compare them to initial estimates to improve accuracy.
- Adjust estimates based on actual designs for future reference.
Qualifications for the Commercial Construction Cost Estimator:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant commercial construction estimating experience.
- A degree in a construction-related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Prior experience in an estimating capacity is essential.
- Experience within the commercial construction sector is highly desirable.
- Engage in planning and estimate review meetings, project evaluations, and site assessments as necessary.
- Provide well-founded recommendations to mitigate pricing risks.
