Sheet Metal Fabricator

Vertical Mechanical Group Inc is seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Production Worker to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for fabricating, building, and mounting various types of HVAC metal structures and duct work ready for installation at various job sites.

• Consult blueprints, duct work orders, and/or schematics to safely construct specified structures and develop additional sketches as needed.
• Select appropriate materials for each job based on desired or necessary strength.
• Cut, bend, and shape sheet metal to required dimensions using various machinery and tools.
• Measure, cut, and weld pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
• Connect pieces or secure seams by riveting, rolling, soldering, or using steel screws.
• Perform assigned work on assembly lines, such as punching holes for screws or bending gutters.
• Use appropriate machinery and software applications to complete assigned jobs.
• Coordinate required shutdowns and startups of equipment with other departments after sheet metal installation.
• Develop and maintain records for projects and repairs.
• Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.

• Ability to complete sheet metal projects with accuracy and precision.
• Ability to safely use machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work.
• Ability to follow directions and read blueprints and schematics to understand product assignments.
• Basic knowledge of method, equipment, and tools used in the HVAC service and installation trade.
• Ability to accurately measure and multitask.
• Able to understand and manage job deadlines.
• Basic knowledge of principles and practices of HVAC repair, maintenance, and installation.
• Basic knowledge of standard equipment and tools related to the HVAC trade.
• Basic knowledge of various mechanical systems related to the HVAC trade.
• Basic knowledge of various electrical and control systems related to the HVAC trade.
• Basic knowledge of operating and repair characteristics of various HVAC systems.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
• Comfortable with ladders and heights.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 pounds with assistance.
