As an Accounting Specialist, you will be instrumental in assisting our Accounting team with various key functions, including the preparation of monthly financial reports, managing month-end closing processes, and engaging in mid-month accounting tasks. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that all accounting activities are executed accurately and punctually, adhering to established protocols.
Your Impact
- Support the creation of monthly and annual financial statements, while analyzing and reporting on budget variances each month.
- Engage in month-end closing activities, which include preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and completing other accounting responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Oversee, analyze, and reconcile fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Leverage business intelligence software to assess trends and offer recommendations for operational enhancements.
- Evaluate and process carrier premium payments.
- Generate miscellaneous invoices, review accounts receivable aging reports, and follow up as necessary.
- Assist with both internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to relevant accounting standards.
- Provide accounting support for mergers, acquisitions, and new business initiatives.
- Maintain procedural documentation for finance as required.
- Take on special projects and requests as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 2 - 5 years of progressive experience in Accounting and/or Finance.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, with experience in ERP systems and business intelligence tools being advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a comprehensive understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation.
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication abilities, capable of prioritizing and organizing multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
- Ability to challenge existing processes, identify inefficiencies, and propose improvements to financial and accounting operations.
