Job Title: Treatment Court Case Manager

Van Buren County is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the position of Treatment Court Case Manager. As a key member of our team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing casework services to participants enrolled in Drug Treatment Court and Sobriety Court.

Job Summary:

  • Assess and evaluate offenders for risk to the community and provide comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Monitor defendants' progress and track compliance with court-ordered requirements.
  • Coordinate a team of service providers to address multiple problem areas affecting participants.
  • Complete bi-weekly court documents reflecting participant progress and attend biweekly court sessions.
  • Transport participants to long-term and local resource agencies when necessary.
  • Monitor participants' sobriety through observed urine testing.
  • Complete various assessments as required for federal and state funding.
  • Testify in court proceedings and maintain confidentiality while working with sensitive information.

Responsibilities:

  1. Interview and screen treatment court referrals and make recommendations for program enrollment.
  2. Assess the causes of offenders' substance abuse and determine appropriate levels of treatment and counseling.
  3. Provide face-to-face guidance and report progress to related parties and the court.
  4. Participate in planning sessions to coordinate and problem-solve with other criminal justice and human services agencies.
  5. Act as a liaison with ancillary service agencies to address multiple problem areas affecting participants.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Michigan driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks of varying degrees of difficulty.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to crisis situations.
  • Proficiency with standard office applications.

Work Environment:

The Treatment Court Case Manager will work in an office setting but may also conduct work in unsecured environments, requiring sound judgment regarding the supervision of defendants. Travel may be required to conduct home visits, attend meetings, and transport participants.
