Paralegal II

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work as a Paralegal II in the Cumberland County Department of Social Services. As a Paralegal II, you will play a critical role in supporting the Legal Section by assisting with pre-trial preparation, post-trial production of documents, and working with cases appealed to the NC Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.

• Assist with the initial screening of legal questions from within and outside the Agency.
• Track children in the custody of the Agency and ensure required Court hearings are scheduled.
• Assist the attorney in court and prepare and file court documents.
• Prepare and serve Summons, Subpoenas, and Notices to parties and their attorneys.
• Coordinate with the Judge Advocate General at Fort Bragg for military witnesses and records.

• Graduation from an appropriately accredited institution for paralegal training and two years of experience as a paralegal.
• Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of substantive paralegal experience.
• High school or General Education Development (GED) diploma and six years of paralegal experience performing delegated, substantive legal work.
