Job Summary

Collins Machine Works is seeking a skilled On-Site Machinist to join our team. As an On-Site Machinist, you will be responsible for performing precision machining operations at customer facilities or at our Portsmouth, Virginia locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate manually controlled machines to perform repairs to equipment, vessels, and mechanical structures
  • Travel to customer locations locally, throughout the United States, and abroad to perform site surveys and carry out repairs
  • Transport and set up tools, machinery, and fixtures to support machining operations
  • Perform machining operations using equipment such as portable milling machines, clamshell lathes, line boring systems, grinding machines, and hydraulic tensioning systems
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 to 5 years related experience is preferred
  • Language skills - effectively communicate and understand job instructions verbally and written in English
  • Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner
