Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati is seeking a highly-motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Public Safety team as an Emergency Communications Dispatcher. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. As a dispatcher, you will be responsible for operating communication equipment to dispatch personnel and equipment for Public Safety's Police Division.

You will work closely with our team to provide prompt and effective response to emergency situations, while also maintaining accurate records and reports. If you have experience working in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about public safety, we encourage you to apply.

Essential Functions

  • Operate radio, telephone, and computer equipment at the base station.
  • Coordinate communication operations for Law Enforcement, Facilities Management, Fire Inspectors, Fire Alarm Technicians, Parking Services, and Student Health.
  • Receive and record telephone calls; receive and transmit communication dispatching personnel and equipment to all UC campuses.

Required Education and Experience

We require a High School Diploma/GED and six months of computer or keyboarding experience, as well as at least one year of extensive telephone experience. You must also obtain Regional Crime Information Center (RCIC) certification, APCO PST 1 certification, and Priority Dispatch IAED EMD certification by the end of your probationary period.
