We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinarian to join our team at the Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC). As a key member of our veterinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to animals in our shelter and field services. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of animals and make a real difference in their lives.
Key Responsibilities- Perform examinations and oversee treatment of injured/sick animals
- Perform examinations, surgery, and spay/neuter shelter and foster animals
- Monitor animals for unusual conditions during post-operative period
- Provide consultation and advice regarding animals' health, care, and recommended treatment
- Recommend referral to another veterinarian or specialist outside of the organization when necessary
- Provide professional advice to animal shelter staff and volunteers regarding animal care and detection of preventable diseases
- Diagnose and treat animal health problems, vaccinate, prescribe medications
- Provide advice to animal owners on nutrition, breeding, and behavior
- Perform and oversee medical euthanasia and manage the response to outbreaks
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from a college of veterinary medicine
- Advanced skills in performing high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter and other surgeries, pathology examinations, euthanasia, and other required procedures
- Experience in public relations and ability to communicate with diverse internal and external partners
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and make quality decisions quickly
- Skilled in using current software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, database, and email
