Overview

The Underwriter is responsible for overseeing the underwriting and management of renewal accounts for brokers and producers within the designated region while adhering to company underwriting guidelines. This role is based in our Scottsdale, AZ office (Tuesday - Thursday).

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive research on emerging business classes and industry trends
  • Assesses market feasibility and recommends form wording and rate adjustments
  • Collaborates with brokers to review individual risks and make acceptance determinations
  • Evaluates risk exposures, establishes premiums, and formulates customized wordings
  • Meets production and loss ratio objectives through proficient management
  • Analyzes premium and loss outcomes by state and major business classes
  • Handles policy maintenance and mid-term requests efficiently
  • Reviews and approves necessary policy modifications and loss control documentation
  • Travels to broker offices for policy audits and develops marketing initiatives

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial lines property and casualty
  • In-depth knowledge of Excess Casualty coverage and risk assessment
  • Strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to engage in strategic planning and collaborate effectively

Preferred:

  • CPCU, AIS, or CIC designation
