Job Title: Resident Instructor

Community Residences is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our residential program, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Job Summary

The Resident Instructor will be responsible for creating a nurturing and positive learning environment, developing strategies to help clients cope with daily living situations, and facilitating independent performance in various areas. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with individuals at various ability levels.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement individualized plans of care to meet the unique needs of each client.
  2. Provide support and guidance to clients in daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household management.
  3. Assist clients in developing and maintaining skills in areas such as communication, socialization, and independent living.
  4. Monitor and report any changes in client behavior or medical status to the supervisor or program coordinator.
  5. Administer medication to clients as prescribed, in accordance with agency policy and regulatory standards.
  6. Participate in training opportunities to maintain and enhance skills and knowledge in the field of developmental disabilities.
  7. Assist in maintaining a safe and clean living environment, including the upkeep of the house and vehicle.
  8. Provide accurate accounting of agency funds and client resources.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of two years of experience in the field of human services.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals at various ability levels.
  • Knowledge of educational and behavioral programs, with a willingness to learn about current issues in the field of developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to perform active work, both inside and outside of the program, with a valid CT driver's license and good driving record.
Work Schedule

This is a part-time position, working Tuesday-Friday 7am-8:30am at Lydale, 8:30am-3pm NDP, and Saturday 9am-2:30pm.

37.5 hours per week.
