Position Overview

The role of the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) involves engaging in information assurance and cybersecurity activities within a dedicated work environment that supports advanced computing systems and innovative solutions for various technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates system architecture and troubleshooting for data collection and real-time Cyber Defense Operations.
  • Implements the Risk Management Framework (RMF), encompassing Assessment and Accreditation (A&A) processes.
  • Provides guidance on Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM).
  • Ensures systems are maintained in alignment with Department of Defense (DoD) policies and procedures.
  • Maintains baseline systems in compliance with DoD Certification and Accreditation (C&A) standards.
  • Generates Information Assurance (IA) reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Processes System Authorization Access Request (SAAR) forms efficiently.
  • Utilizes Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) for effective documentation management.
  • Employs ServiceNow (or Remedy) for managing trouble tickets and support requests.
  • Provides assistance in escalating issues and communicating status updates to relevant agencies and internal clients.
  • Conducts comprehensive risk assessments on systems, networks, and Cybersecurity operations.
  • Ensures the protection of information against unauthorized access, disclosure, misuse, disruption, or alteration.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills with remote clients.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

Essential Skills:

  • Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Understanding of Assured Compliance Assessment Solutions (ACAS) scans.
  • Experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.

Certification Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain a current IAT Level II Certification (such as Security+ce, GSEC, GICSP, SSCP, CySA+, CND, or CCNA-Security) as per DoD guidelines.

Security Clearance:

  • Must hold an active DoD-issued Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance.
