The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), particularly the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Security Operations Center (SOC), is essential in protecting CBP networks from cyber threats. In this role, you will play a key part in formulating and articulating forward-thinking security strategies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of industry practices.

  • Lead the enterprise-wide implementation of operational platforms essential for Zero Trust.
  • Enhance customer capabilities and establish best practices for the execution of Zero Trust principles.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure leaders to develop security roadmaps for network, compute, and storage solutions.
  • Promote the adoption of advanced technologies and industry standards.
  • Integrate Zero Trust functionalities to improve the agency's security posture.
  • Empower application operations through innovative security frameworks.
  • Guide engineers in the application of state-of-the-art security technologies.
  • Utilize expertise in Network/Enterprise Security Architecture to influence Zero Trust capabilities.
  • Formulate and incorporate federal government requirements into agency policies.
  • Establish governance frameworks for operational policies.
  • Define cybersecurity and IT performance metrics.

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline along with 12-15 years of experience is required. Cybersecurity certifications and additional years of experience may substitute for a degree. Extensive background in IT Security and cyber risk management within a complex enterprise setting is essential.

Familiarity with Zero Trust Capabilities, Infrastructures, and Architecture is necessary. Proven leadership experience is also required. Knowledge of USG cyber risk management and NIST guidelines is beneficial.

Certification: A current CISSP certification is mandatory.

Clearance: All personnel within the Department of Homeland Security CBP SOC must successfully complete a 5-year Background Investigation.
