This internship is designed to provide exceptional students with the opportunity to develop their skills in resilience planning and become leaders in the field.
The Resilience Planning Specialist will support the Resilience Solutions Group in the development of hazard mitigation, emergency management, and climate change adaptation strategies.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the development of technical studies and plans related to resilience strategy and plan development.
- Assisting in public outreach and engagement for community resilience projects.
- Preparing plans, studies, reports, guides, and other technical deliverables.
- Communicating technical information related to natural hazards and resilience to various audiences.
Required skills and experience include:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Planning, Policy Analysis, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information and perform a range of tasks assigned by senior-level staff.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment, demonstrating effective time-management and communication skills.
Desired skills include:
- Previous professional or internship experience.
- Experience researching, planning, and developing operational and tactical plans, policies, procedures, and guidance to promote resilience and mitigation.
- Familiarity with applying principles of social equity and environmental justice to technical and strategic work.
