In this rewarding role as a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital part in supporting the daily needs of our residents. As a key member of our support staff, you will be responsible for providing direct care and support to our residents, including bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, continence, eating, and medications. You will also be expected to maintain a clean and orderly home environment for residents.

This is a part-time position, working 20 hours per week. The schedule includes weekends, holidays, and part-time hours from 2pm-10pm. The hourly rate for this position is $18.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly.

In addition to your responsibilities as a Support Services Coordinator, you will also be required to attend in-service training sessions, complete an on-site orientation, and participate in all training as required by facility policy and regulation. You will also be responsible for observing and supervising residents, reporting any abuse of any resident that they witness, and providing assistance with all activities of daily living and with all personal care.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide care and supervision to residents, including bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, continence, eating, and medications
- Maintain a clean and orderly home environment for residents
- Attend in-service training sessions
- Complete an on-site orientation, which addresses the facility's program design, consumer IPPs, consumer's rights regulations, assistance to consumers with prescribed medications, health and emergency procedures, identification and reporting of special incidents, and identification and reporting of consumer abuse
- Observation and reporting any resident request, needs, changes, or observations to the Administrator
- Encouraging and assisting residents with a variety of planned recreational, physical, social, and educational activities
- Responding to resident requests
- Supervising residents and visitors signing in and out of the facility
- Following safety guidelines in the facility, including proper lifting techniques and standard precautions when providing care to the residents
- Promoting open communication between health care professionals, families, residents, and Administrator
- Participate in all training as required by facility policy and regulation
- Observing and supervising residents
- Reporting any abuse of any resident that they witness. If they suspect but do not witness abuse, they are still to report the suspected abuse
- Providing assistance with all activities of daily living and with all personal care, including grooming, hygiene, and encouraging recreational, social, and physical and educational activities
- Maintaining the facility in a neat, safe, and sanitary condition
- Assisting immediately on any resident crisis, following facility policy and basic first aid training
- Caring for cognitively impaired residents by using techniques for addressing the unique needs and behaviors of the population
- Demonstrating understanding and support of Resident Rights by providing for resident privacy; maintaining resident confidentiality; promoting the residents' right to make personal choices to accommodate their needs; reinforcing behavior consistent with resident dignity, assist residents to participate in activities
- Ensuring that all residents and residents' guests sign in and out of the facility
- Performing food service duties, including checking menu items' ingredients for quality, wholesomeness, and quantity; preparing meals and snacks; ensuring all standardized recipes are followed as they are written; utilizing sound food handling practices for the storage and preparation of each menu item; maintaining a strict 'clean as you go' policy or ensuring a clean and professional work environment; reporting all equipment maintenance concerns to the Administrator; working with the Administrator, contributing ideas and suggestions in the planning of special theme/holiday occasions; providing therapeutically correct food items for special diets as directed by the Administrator utilizing physician orders; keeping the kitchen and dining area in a safe and sanitary condition; serving residents' meals and snacks, and meal and snack cleanup
- Performing housekeeping services, including vacuuming, dusting, cleaning of bathrooms, cleaning of linoleum flooring, spot cleaning carpet, performing resident laundry service, washing and returning all clothes, linen, and towels within 24 hours; performing major cleaning procedures on a scheduled basis, including washing of windows inside and out, carpet cleaning to include total extraction or sport extraction as needed, moving of furniture to vacuum or extract those areas, and providing cleaning services in vacant rooms in preparation for new residents.
