Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Travel Nurse RN specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to join our team at Lewisgale Hospital-Pulaski VA. This role requires a compassionate professional with a strong commitment to patient care.

Certification Requirements
  • Active Compact License required upon submission
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS
Job Responsibilities
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital setting
  • Willingness to work overtime
  • Exceptional communication skills and a deep understanding of the patient experience
Schedule Information
  • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse and 2 nurses (no CNAs or monitor techs)
  • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse and 2 nurses (no CNAs or monitor techs)
Unit Specific Information
  • Punctuality is essential; report starts promptly
  • A positive attitude is crucial; negativity is not tolerated
  • Flexibility to float to other units as needed
  • Hourly patient rounding utilizing the SAFETY Round acronym
  • Bedside report is conducted with patient and family involvement
  • Lunch must be taken on hospital premises
  • Smoke-free environment
  • Awards: Recognized as a Unit of Distinction for two consecutive years
Additional Details
  • Number of Beds: 8
  • Staff Count: 12
  • Patient Ratios: 2:1, occasionally 3:1
  • Equipment Used: GE monitors, Pyxis medication administration, Sigma Spectrum IV pumps, Puritan Bennett Vents
  • EMR System: Meditech, with assessments every 4 hours and notes every 2 hours
  • Preferred Qualifications: Willingness to float to other units, PALS certification
  • Typical Procedures: Intubation, CVP monitoring, Arterial line monitoring, ETOH and opioid detox
  • Ideal Candidate: Enjoys working in a small rural hospital, flexible, compassionate, and accountable
  • Dress Code: Navy scrubs, no patterns allowed
