Job Summary

The City of Allen, TX is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Detention Officer to join our team. As a key member of our public safety department, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Book and release inmates, ensuring accurate and efficient processing
  • Maintain prisoner care and safety, conducting regular cell checks and monitoring inmate status
  • Distribute property and supplies to inmates, including clothing, mattresses, and blankets
  • Provide custodial services, maintaining a clean and sanitary environment within the detention facility
  • Respond to violent inmates, utilizing knowledge of the Allen Police Department's Force Continuum to prevent incident escalation
  • Operate detention facility equipment, including office equipment and fingerprinting services
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment screenings, CJIS, and fingerprint check
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to stressful situations. The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
