Job Overview:
The Service Shop Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that skilled diesel technicians execute repairs accurately and efficiently while maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction within the service department.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Recruit, hire, and inspire qualified diesel technicians.
2. Assist technicians in enhancing their skills with the support of the Service Manager.
3. Schedule repair tasks and assign technicians to specific mechanical segments that align with their expertise to ensure quality outcomes.
4. Ensure equitable distribution of repair assignments among mechanics.
5. Provide technical assistance to mechanics as needed.
6. Monitor the progress of each repair order throughout the day.
7. Uphold high standards of repair quality and minimize the occurrence of comebacks. Conduct regular spot checks of completed work for thoroughness and quality assurance.
8. Perform road tests on vehicles to verify the quality of work completed.
9. Review mechanics' daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll documentation.

Basic Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
2. Two years of relevant experience in shop and technician supervision.
3. Valid commercial driver's license and insurability with the company's insurance provider.
4. Completion of ASE Master Certification program; Diamond Certification Program; and certifications from manufacturers such as Cat, Cummins, Eaton, Fuller, or others as applicable.
