Position Overview

The Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in supporting Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers within a clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Welcoming patients, gathering medical histories, and ensuring comprehensive documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Responsibilities also include the preparation and administration of injections, managing patient communications, and assisting with medical procedures such as the application and removal of casts and the fitting and education on Durable Medical Equipment (DME).

Additionally, the LPN aids in the upkeep of medical equipment, supplies, and examination rooms.

Core Job Functions:

Greets patients, facilitates the check-in process, and addresses general inquiries. Manages phone calls and schedules both initial and follow-up appointments. Processes referrals efficiently.

Prepares patient charts for new arrivals and retrieves charts for upcoming visits. Ensures all necessary patient forms are completed, up-to-date, and entered into the system. Responsible for locating medical charts as required, as well as filing and purging charts. Reviews charts for progress notes and urgent orders, prepares billing tickets, and acts on any urgent requests. Manages billing tickets and patient-specific documentation. Processes requests for medical records. Monitors and documents instances of patient no-shows. Maintains the patient waiting area, ensuring cleanliness and comfort. Collects co-payments and balances the cash drawer. Gathers information for external testing when necessary. Secures authorizations from insurance providers for testing and injections.

Provides support and coverage in daily office operations as needed across various areas. Oversees and maintains front office equipment; orders necessary office supplies and medical equipment. Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains examination rooms and medical instruments.

Ensures cleanliness in all clinical spaces; restocks and orders supplies while adhering to budgetary guidelines; inspects and cleans equipment, makes minor adjustments, and reports any maintenance needs to management.


Assists physicians and physician assistants with specialized procedures, gathers required instruments, positions patients appropriately, and follows instructions provided by the healthcare provider.

Prepares X-ray requests according to physician protocols and directs or transports patients to Radiology.

Prepares laboratory orders and arranges for the transport of specimens as needed. Performs tasks such as the removal of sutures, staples, dressings, and wraps; applies and removes casts and splints. Provides education to patients regarding DME usage. Prepares and administers injections as per physician directives.

Collects necessary information and instructional materials for discharged patients, ensuring they are informed about follow-up appointments and locations.

Ensures timely transport of patients' X-ray films to the follow-up location for their subsequent visits.

Educates patients on the physician's care plan through handouts and demonstrations. Ensures billing tickets are accurately marked for injections and that equipment and supplies are provided to patients. Participates in in-service training and departmental meetings.

Performs any other duties as assigned.

Certifications/Licenses:
Must possess a current and valid license to practice Practical Nursing in the State of Ohio. Authorized to administer medications as per the State of Ohio Board of Nursing. BLS certification required within three (3) months of hire.

Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday; 8 AM to 5 PM

Full-Time, 40 hours per week
