Reports To: Plant Manager

Job Purpose: Responsible for the collection and preparation of paper waste for recycling processes.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. Sort and load paper waste into the baling apparatus from rolling containers.
  2. Utilize both automatic and manual baling equipment in accordance with established protocols.
  3. Operate industrial forklifts to transport scrap paper containers and bales.
  4. Monitor scales to confirm the weight of bales produced.
  5. Identify and document the specific material grade and weight of each bale.
  6. Load baled products, including recyclable corrugated materials, onto appropriate trailers for shipping.
  7. Ensure trucks are loaded correctly to maximize weight limits.
  8. Promptly inform the Accounting Assistant when a salvage truck is ready for pick-up.
  9. Notify a supervisor immediately when baling machines require maintenance or repairs.
  10. Manage waste disposal.
  11. Maintain cleanliness in the Baler Room, baling machines, and designated recycling storage areas within the facility.
  12. Responsibilities include standing for the majority of the shift, working at a fast pace, operating a forklift, handling large containers and bales, and potentially working overtime.
  13. Perform additional tasks as assigned by management as needed.
  14. Carry out the duties of this position in compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
