As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Rapid Care Unit, you will closely monitor patients and work alongside other healthcare professionals to assess whether patients require further hospitalization or can safely return home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and document both objective and subjective data regarding the patient.
  • Contribute observations and health information to the nursing assessment and report all findings to the RN or authorized healthcare provider.
  • Implement the current nursing care plan under the guidance of the RN or authorized healthcare provider.
  • Document and communicate the patient's response to the nursing care plan or treatments, including monitoring for adverse reactions and conducting routine lab tests.
  • Participate in the revision of the nursing care plan.
  • Provide education and information to patients and their families.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff members positively, sharing knowledge and experiences.
  • Maintain professional growth and development within the nursing field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.

Certifications Required:

  • Current Ohio License as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • If applicable, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through AHA within one year of employment in the Emergency Department.
  • If applicable, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through AHA within one year of employment in the Emergency Department.

Work Experience:

  • One year of patient care experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to assist and lift patients, manual dexterity, and good eye-hand coordination.
  • Involves extensive standing and walking.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical demand requirements exceed those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Adhere to standard precautions using personal protective equipment as necessary.
