Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Infusion Department at The University of Chicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and perform direct nursing care for patients, utilizing concepts of the nursing process.
  • Design, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient care plans, ensuring effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Initiate assessment on admission, identifying psychosocial, physical, spiritual, emotional, and education/discharge needs of patients and families.
  • Develop and implement discharge plans, ensuring timely and effective transitions of care.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to all levels of staff, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Provide patient and family education, based on identified educational needs, to promote informed decision-making and self-care.
  • Collaborate with professional peers and provide participative supervision and leadership for Care Team Members in managing patient care and clinical practice.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Illinois or valid temporary permit to practice nursing in the State of Illinois.
  • Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Minimum of one year full-time experience in an outpatient ambulatory infusion or oncology nursing, strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of venous access devices, including implantable and peripherally inserted catheters, and excellent venipuncture and IV start skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of ONS Chemo-Biotherapy Course within 12 months, unless holds current ONS or INS certification.
