Job Summary:

Huntsville Hospital Health System is seeking a skilled Telemetry Technician to join our team. As a Telemetry Technician, you will be responsible for monitoring cardiac rhythms and rates, reporting changes to healthcare professionals, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assign and set up cardiac monitors, entering patient information into the central monitoring system.
  • Place telemetry monitors on patients, ensuring accurate identification and preparation of the patient's skin.
  • Verify patient information, rate, and rhythm with the central monitor station.
  • Document required elements in the electronic medical record.
  • Observe and interpret cardiac rhythms and rates.
  • Timely and accurately record rhythm strips every 4 hours.
  • Report changes in patient rates and/or rhythms to healthcare professionals.
  • Perform a reconciliation process every 4 hours, matching hospital census with the central monitor.
  • Maintain meticulous interdepartmental records.
  • Maintain and operate equipment safely and correctly.
  • Care for equipment appropriately, including cleaning, storing, and reporting issues.
  • Maintain a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
  • Interact professionally with patients, families, and visitors, providing explanations and verbal reassurance as needed.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations.
  • Meet annual competency requirements, including rhythm interpretation tests.
Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • No previous experience required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
