Job Overview:


The Culinary Specialist is accountable for providing exceptional service to both staff and visitors, ensuring the serving line and associated areas are well-organized and maintained in a hygienic and safe manner.

Under the guidance of the Executive Chef, this role involves overseeing a designated shift, typically five days a week. The position may require flexibility for callbacks and additional hours as needed by the healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and cooks meals that require minimal preparation time.
  • Primarily engages in fast food cooking tasks to prepare food items for patrons.
  • Ensures the highest standards of service are provided to customers consistently.
  • Adheres to established recipes and/or product guidelines for the preparation, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving of soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food items.
  • Utilizes various kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, as well as washing, peeling, cutting, and shredding fruits and vegetables, and preparing meat, poultry, or fish for culinary applications.
  • Evaluates food items, reads menus, estimates food needs, monitors production, and maintains records to accurately forecast production requirements and request necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing workstations and equipment, adhering to all company and regulatory protocols.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:
High School diploma or GED is required.

Licensure, Registration, Certification: None required.

Experience:
0 - 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrates basic skills and may develop further competencies relevant to the role. Primarily focuses on specific areas of expertise. Possesses a solid understanding of food preparation techniques. Familiarity with kitchen equipment is essential. Generally requires limited cooking experience.
Ability to read, write, follow both oral and written instructions, and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
