Job Summary

GTG Peterbilt is seeking an experienced Body Shop Technician to join our team in Wichita, KS. As a key member of our body shop team, you will be responsible for repairing or replacing damaged body parts to pre-accident condition per factory and dealership specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review each repair order and estimator's notes to understand repairs needed prior to beginning work on the truck.
  • Install and repair truck equipment per the manufacturer's technical repair process.
  • Complete jobs within established time frames.
  • Perform work and maintain 98% return-free work.
  • Communicate with the shop foreman or manager if additional parts are needed to finish a repair.
  • Inform Body Shop Manager of all customer concerns so they may be handled before the vehicle leaves the shop.
  • Develop good relations with customers, adjusters, and insurance companies.
  • Maintain a high quality of work.
  • Provide proper housekeeping of the Body Shop area and overall shop appearance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
  • Solid working knowledge of power tools required to perform all phases of truck/chassis repair.
  • Good communication in both verbal, written, and listening skills.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Work well independently as well as part of a team.
  • Experienced Painter.
  • Training in body shop repair and estimating required.
  • Training in welding preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass mandatory pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Education and Experience
  • Preferred minimum of High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical and Environmental Demands
  • Working in, under, and around trucks and trailers.
  • Ability to lift, push or pull, objects of various shapes, sizes and weights.
  • Safely walk, reach, bend, climb, push, twist, squat and kneel as necessary to perform the essential job duties.
  • Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Primarily indoors with some outdoor work.
  • High noise level.
