Job Summary

A skilled Maintenance Mechanic I will work collaboratively with Electrical staff to maintain and repair Printing Press equipment, Book Binding equipment, and other projects within a manufacturing plant environment. This role requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate various machine tools, including lathes, mills, drill presses, and surface grinders, to manufacture replacement parts for mechanical press and bindery equipment.
  • Assist in the repair and maintenance of mechanical press and bindery equipment.
  • Develop a working knowledge of relay logic and control circuits, with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain components.
  • Understand and effectively troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
  • Use testing equipment to diagnose issues with electrical components and understand AC/DC motor controls.
  • Maintain mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, with a focus on safety and adherence to OSHA regulations and company policies.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of field experience preferred.
  • Intermediate math and computer skills.
  • Associate's degree in Industrial Electronics preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and adhere to all safety regulations and operating procedures.
Physical Requirements
  • Walking: Must be able to walk for tasks that require walking.
  • Standing: Must be able to stand on a concrete floor for up to 11.5 hours/day, 3 to 4 days per week.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Must be able to frequently lift and carry signatures weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Must be able to occasionally push/pull skids of paper weighing over 100 lbs.
  • Bending/Twisting: Must be able to bend and twist to perform tasks such as working in a folder and setting ink.
  • Climbing: Must be able to climb in, out, and around press equipment as needed.
  • Kneeling: Must be able to perform tasks in a kneeling position for various lengths of time.
  • Grasping/Reaching: Must be able to reach and grasp signatures of varying thickness and weight.
