Job Summary

SSM Health is seeking a skilled Laboratory Support Specialist/Phlebotomy Technician to join our team. This is a PRN position, offering flexibility and control over your schedule. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, performing a variety of tasks, including phlebotomy, waived testing, and laboratory procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform phlebotomy and waived testing, ensuring accurate and efficient results.
  • Load and unload lab specimens from automated and non-automated instrumentation.
  • Assist in problem requisitions/specimens and orient new hires.
  • Collect, label, process, and preserve blood, urine, and other specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Enter, access, and execute lab orders in the appropriate laboratory and electronic medical record system.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory supplies and work area.
  • Update statistical records, labels tubes, and schedules processing runs.
  • Perform moderate complexity testing and phlebotomy.
  • Identify patients using two identifiers and perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
