Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Raytheon. As a key member of our Mechanical Engineering Directorate, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and production of radar, sonar, torpedo, communication, and combat system equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of complex interconnect solutions for above and below sea combatant platforms, mobile and stationary ground platforms, missile, manned/unmanned programs across all platforms, and onsite support.
  • Perform research, design, support to build, and development of military and commercial interconnections for all these platforms, including control, fiber optic, high power, high voltage, radio frequency, and waterproof.
  • Use mechanical and electrical flow down to design and route cables using CREO to verify cable path, volume capture, lengths, and interfaces.
  • Develop interconnections sketches, diagrams, and other engineering information to generate conceptual designs and drawings in tools such as CREO, AutoCAD, and Windchill.
  • Represent the Mechanical Engineering organization as the prime technical contact for cable & harness interconnect design.
  • Interact with high-level representatives on significant technical matters requiring coordination between organizations and suppliers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field and 8 years of experience with Interconnects design and CREO/CAD design tool.
  • Experience with manufacturing within interconnect domain, including interconnect manufacturing and/or field troubleshooting.
  • Experience with component military specifications, standards, test specifications, QPLs and/or QMLs associated with connectors, coaxial cables, multi-conductor cables, interconnection cable & wire, and/or fiber-optic cables.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in leading small teams (3-6 people) in the development of cable/harness design and documentation, including cost and schedule management.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of Military and Commercial codes and standards for cabling and interconnects design.
  • Technical working knowledge of interconnect component parts and their application.
  • Knowledge of major suppliers for interconnection components industry including connectors, backshells, and wires.
  • Development and review of schematic diagrams, interconnection diagrams, cable assembly drawings, and associated component control drawings.
  • Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing within interconnect domain, including interconnect manufacturing and field troubleshooting.

We offer a competitive salary range of $96,000 USD - $200,000 USD, depending on experience.
