Job Summary

This position is responsible for upholding the mission of North Central Texas College by providing high-quality instruction and support to students. The successful candidate will be committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, embracing positive interpersonal behaviors, and demonstrating professional communication, integrity, leadership, stewardship, respect, and accountability.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course and program objectives.
  • Contribute to the overall educational environment of the college and community.
  • Offer academic advising, committee participation, professional development, community development, and other service support as needed.
  • Treat students and colleagues with respect.
  • Be actively involved in issues of institutional effectiveness, including student learning outcomes, program level outcomes, and marketable skill achievement.
  • Focus teaching and outreach efforts on student success.
  • Meet class as scheduled and follow departmental policy for class cancellations.
  • Maintain appropriate records of grades/attendance and submit required reports to the Division Chair and Registrar on time.
  • Post office hours and be available to students during that time.
  • Make an appropriate syllabus available to students and Division Chair in a timely manner.
  • Be well-organized and prepared for each class.
  • Maintain college-level rigor and require a high level of academic excellence from students.
  • Use a variety of instructional methods to enhance learning.
  • Develop appropriate tests, projects, and/or other evaluation activities for courses taught.
  • Consider student course evaluations in the improvement of instruction.
  • Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with students.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on student assignments.
  • Encourage an atmosphere in which students may ask questions, offer opinions, and express ideas.
  • Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with colleagues and other college personnel.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and activities.
  • Serve on college committees.
  • Attend and participate in college in-service, workshops, and activities.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the subject area and in instructional techniques.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Share ideas and materials related to the teaching field and/or pedagogy with colleagues.
  • Participate in the Peer Classroom Observation Program.
  • Advise students regarding class scheduling, degree planning, and provide appropriate career advising.
  • Post and maintain scheduled office hours.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Farm & Ranch Management, or a related discipline.
  • Associate Degree in Agriculture, Farm & Ranch Management, or a related discipline and three years' work experience in the area of assigned instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) years' current work experience in Agriculture, Farm & Ranch, or a related field.
  • Community College and/or Public School teaching experience.
  • Online curriculum development and online teaching experience.
