About the K6 Trauma Spine Unit:
The K6 unit features 44 beds and is dedicated to delivering outstanding care to medical-surgical patients, primarily focusing on spinal surgeries and trauma cases.
We frequently care for individuals involved in motor vehicle accidents, those injured during recreational activities, and elderly patients who have suffered falls.
Our team collaborates closely with other trauma units to guarantee comprehensive care throughout the patients' recovery process.Team Environment:

Nursing Support and Staffing:
The nurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1:4 to 1:6 during day shifts and 1:5 to 1:7 during night shifts.
Respiratory, physical, and occupational therapy teams are present daily to facilitate patient mobility and discharge planning.

Required Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enrollment in a BSN or advanced degree program with a commitment to obtain a BSN within 5 years of hire into the RN position.
Grandfathering will be accepted between departments and Mission Health entities. Exemptions or extensions may be approved by the facility CNO and reported to the CNO Council members. Each facility will ensure tracking of exemptions should this information be needed. RNs with 10 years or more of experience are exempt.Preferred Education:
Master's in Nursing.
Required License/Certifications:
Must possess and maintain current licensure as a registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply; licensee should confirm with NCBON.
Certificate:
BLS Healthcare Provider.
Preferred License/Certifications:
National Certification in the area of specialty.
Required Experience:
One year of nursing experience.
