Job Summary

The Young Mens Christian Association of Boise City Idaho is seeking a qualified Swim Instructor to teach swimming skills and water safety to participants of various levels. As a Swim Instructor, you will inspire individuals to learn a vital life skill and play a crucial role in ensuring students have a safe and enjoyable learning experience.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Swimming Skills: Develop and implement lesson plans to teach swimming skills, water safety, and water survival skills to participants.
  • Build Relationships: Foster positive relationships with youth and parents by providing honest, direct, and appropriate feedback.
  • Ensure Safety: Create a safe environment for participants by maintaining a clutter-free deck, being on time, and responding quickly and appropriately to emergencies.
  • Assess Skill Levels: Evaluate the skill levels of participants to determine appropriate class placement.
  • Communicate Effectively: Engage in intentional conversations with students and parents regarding swimmer progression, retention, and placement.
Requirements
  • Age: Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Color Differentiation: Must be able to differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue, and green).
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
  • Emergency Response: Must be able to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
  • Certifications: Must hold Basic Life Support Certification, First Aid Certification, Oxygen Certification, and Y Swim Instructor certification.
