AI Research Leader

A global organization that drives computational approaches to small molecule drug discovery, supporting all therapeutic areas.
The mission of this organization is to apply state-of-the-art computational chemistry, machine learning, and physics-based methods to better understand protein structure/function and accelerate the drug discovery process from hit generation to clinical candidate selection.
We are making significant investments in AI/ML methods to support all elements of the CDD mission. This position offers the flexibility to be based onsite in North Chicago, IL, Worcester, MA, South San Francisco, CA, or Ludwigshafen, Germany.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the scientific and strategic incorporation of AI/ML tools into existing CDD workflows.
- Interface closely throughout CDD membership to identify opportunities for incorporating AI/ML strategies to enhance contributions to the drug discovery pipeline.
- Collaborate with experts to leverage external innovation, manage external research collaborations.
- Make decisions based on review of available information and data.
- Manage multiple projects within the AI/ML team, enabling pipeline-driving science.
Qualifications:
- BS, MS, or Ph.D. or equivalent in computational chemistry or related discipline, with typically 16+ years (BS), 14+ years (MS), or 8+ years (PhD) of experience.
- Managerial experience leading a scientific research team.
- Strong track record of people, technical, and research project management with significant impact.
- Strong track record of high-impact scientific achievement including a robust publication record.
- Established network with key academic and industrial opinion leaders in machine learning and physics-based computational research.
- Knowledge and experience in state-of-the-art modeling, simulation, and machine learning technologies/workflows as well as computing infrastructure to leverage rich data collections to accelerate discovery in a fast-paced and creative environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills with ability to navigate multiple stakeholders while engaging and motivating your staff.
Salary Range:$200,000 - $300,000 per year
This role is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs and long-term incentive programs.
