Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Library Technical Assistant - Safety to join our team at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. As a key member of our library team, you will play a vital role in providing access to educational resources and promoting literacy among inmates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the maintenance and organization of library collections, including books, periodicals, and digital resources.
  • Provide support to inmates in accessing library materials and resources, including assistance with research and reading comprehension.
  • Collaborate with library staff to develop and implement literacy programs and services.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as cataloging and processing library materials.
  • Maintain a safe and secure library environment, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in library science or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in a library or educational setting, preferably in a correctional facility.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Physical ability to lift and move library materials, as needed.
Working Conditions
