Pharmacy Technician Role at Mayo Clinic

Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients
  • Gather, label, and distribute medications accurately and efficiently
  • Package, prepare, and safely compound medications, including hazardous substances
  • Handle, manage, and distribute controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements and department policies
  • Assist with maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing of medications
  • Effectively communicate using established systems and processes
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Effective reading, writing, speaking, and understanding of English
  • Strong telephone and verbal communication skills
  • Able to learn technical tasks and follow written and verbal directions
  • Able to apply math and calculator skills, as well as a working knowledge of the metric system
  • Experience with office software, computer applications, and keyboarding
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment and pay attention to detail
  • Proven organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a hospital pharmacy technician
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Wisconsin Board of Pharmacy
  • National Pharmacy Technician certification within 12 months of hire
Compensation and Benefits

This role offers a competitive hourly rate of $37.61, with benefits eligibility and a full-time schedule. The schedule includes a combination of day and evening shifts, with weekends on rotation.
