Role Summary and Requirements

The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-focused respiratory care in line with departmental needs and professional standards.

As an integral member of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist conducts various diagnostic assessments and therapeutic interventions while monitoring patients on both invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct and document patient assessments, including breath sounds and airway patency.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures to assess the necessity for respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery and aerosol treatments.
  • Assist in the placement of artificial airways and manage mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient responses to therapy and communicate with providers as necessary.
  • Support the transport of patients requiring ventilatory assistance.
  • Respond to emergency situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program with an Associate degree.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Current RRT/RCP license from the Texas Medical Board.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required within the first month of employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required within the first month of employment.
