Job Overview
Summary/Objective
The Lube Technician diagnoses and performs quality light mechanical services on customer and inventory vehicles with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and manufacturer/factory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle inspections, troubleshooting, and testing for light mechanical services to determine required or recommended repairs as required and in accordance with company policy.
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform the necessary repairs, including replacing parts and components as required.
- Perform tire services, including rotating, replacing, mounting, and balancing.
- Perform preventative maintenance, including lubrication, fluid replacements, coolant services, oil changes, filter services, and brake adjustments.
- Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Verify vehicle serviceability and ensure quality repairs the first time by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems as required.
- Ensure customer vehicles are kept clean during the repair process.
- Contain costs by utilizing warranty options.
- Evaluate service and parts options for repairs as required.
- Communicate with supervisors, team leaders, or service advisors and/or dispatchers if additional work is needed.
- Aid service advisors as needed to write work orders, conduct test rides, and interact with customers to guarantee customer satisfaction.
- Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt of parts and supplies.
- Maintain a clean, efficient work area and assist in keeping the shop neat and organized.
- Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order in accordance with operating procedures.
- Understand the terminology of the automobile industry and stay up-to-date with industry technology changes.
- Follow all attendance and punctuality standards with adherence to timekeeping standards.
- Follow the Company Code of Business Ethics and Conduct.
- Understand and follow all work rules and procedures and follow lawful directions from supervisors.
- Uphold the company's non-disclosure and confidentiality policies and agreements.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company policy.
- Attend pertinent training on request.
- Attend company meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
The position will primarily work in an automotive shop environment. The workspace is covered but may involve various weather conditions such as heat and cold as well as safety hazards due to the nature of the work. The position may experience loud noise on a regular basis.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
The position will work evening, weekend, and holiday work hours as required.
Required Education and Experience
A high school diploma or the equivalent and one year related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
An associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, and two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications (Certification/Licenses/Registrations)
ASE Certification is preferred.
