The General Practice Dentistry Preceptor is a key member of our team at The Lake Erie College Of Osteopathic Medicine, responsible for providing students with comprehensive training in diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Advise students on consultations in various specialties of dentistry, ensuring they receive the best possible training.
- Supervise dental students in our LECOM Dental Group Practices, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Develop and implement effective patient care plans, utilizing strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Provide students with basic clinical training in general dentistry, including oral diagnosis, oral and maxillofacial surgery, endodontics, and more.
- Attend meetings and conferences to stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in dentistry and share knowledge with the team.
- Manage a 10-chair patient practice area, ensuring efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
- Collaborate with faculty and students to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Participate in scholarly activities to enrich the student learning experience and contribute to the mission of LECOM.
- Represent LECOM in the community, participating in outreach and fundraising efforts.
- General dentist with a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree from a U.S. dental school.
- Teaching experience in dental academia preferred.
- Five (5) years or more of experience practicing general dentistry required.
- Advanced training in a hospital-based dental general practice residency (GPR) program or a dental school-based advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD) residency preferred.
- Current Pennsylvania dental license or ability to obtain one.
