Medical Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Physicians East. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in the laboratory process, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of patient specimens for diagnostic testing.
Key Responsibilities- Specimen Collection and Processing: Collect and process patient specimens in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
- Communication and Collaboration: Provide specimen collection information and patient test results to patient care areas, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Specimen Delivery and Packaging: Deliver specimens to performing departments within 30 minutes of arrival and package specimens for reference labs, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Phlebotomy and Venipuncture: Perform venipunctures, arterial punctures, and collect urine, stool, and other samples from patients, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
- Regulatory Compliance: Comply with OSHA and regulatory requirements, maintaining a safe laboratory environment and adhering to accreditation standards.
- Teamwork and Adaptability: Work efficiently as a team member within the department and with other units, providing quality service through communication, cooperation, collaboration, and critical thinking.
- Training and Development: Train new employees in their area and maintain CPR certification, ensuring a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Two years of experience performing phlebotomy or completion of a certified phlebotomy program preferred.
- Skills: Strong computer and interpersonal skills, knowledge of laboratory testing and procedures, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
