About the Role

Palm Beach State College is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic I to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, including general mechanical, electrical, AC, plumbing, and carpentry repairs. You will maintain and repair the physical structure of our buildings and grounds, ensuring a safe and clean environment for our students and employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair physical structure of buildings and grounds
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment consistent with equipment recommendations
  • Assist with setup of campus events and internal building and office relocations
  • Repair and maintain door and window hardware to ensure proper operation and legal compliance
  • Assist in repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Inspect equipment and machinery for safe operation
  • Perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs on heating, air conditioning, and other mechanical systems
  • Clean clogged drains and toilets and assist in performing other plumbing repairs
  • Operate light equipment, vehicles, and various attachments
  • Maintain a safe workplace and follow established safety practices
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED with additional training related to the position
  • One year of related experience
  • Experience in maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
  • Skilled in delivering a high level of customer service, effective time and task management, attention to detail, and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools, machines, and equipment
  • Ability to work a fluctuating schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
