Road Construction Estimator

Pittman Construction is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Road Construction Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for providing support in areas of roadway, heavy civil, and other construction-based projects.
Key Responsibilities- Proposal Review and Analysis: Review proposal specifications and drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
- Estimate Preparation: Prepare estimates by calculating various statistical data, such as quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour, and equipment costs, and apply them to the complete scope of work.
- Historical Data Analysis: Review and research historical data, including purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis, and reports, to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates.
- Estimate Development: Incorporate historical data into unit and man-hour figures, and actively participate in developing bid package estimate documents.
- File Maintenance: Maintain files of working documents for backup to estimating figures, including current information on prices from suppliers.
- Subcontractor Management: Create, send, and manage subcontractor requests for proposal.
- Design Review and Recommendation: Review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Contract Administration: Follow awarded contracts as assigned, including estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, and procuring materials.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of civil, heavy highway estimating experience involving concrete and/or asphalt paving, road widening, drainage lines, road reconstruction, and road dirt work.
- Hard Bid Experience: Minimum 2 years of hard bid experience.
- Estimator and Project Engineer Experience: Minimum 2 years of estimator and/or combination of project engineer and estimating road construction experience.
- Background Check and Driver's License: Ability to pass a DMV background check and hold a valid driver's license.
