Position Overview

As a Pastry Artist at Big Y, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional quality products while ensuring a delightful shopping experience for our customers. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Customer Engagement: Foster relationships with customers and provide education on our offerings to drive sales.
  • Order Management: Accurately take and plan cake orders, ensuring all details are meticulously noted.
  • Cake Decoration: Skillfully decorate cakes and desserts following company standards and guidelines.
  • Display Maintenance: Keep cake display cases well-stocked and visually appealing with a variety of cakes, pastries, and cream pies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with management to achieve operational and sales objectives.
  • Training: Share your knowledge and expertise to train team members as necessary.
  • Product Handling: Receive, prepare, weigh, finish, slice, price, package, merchandise, and stock products as required.
  • Department Maintenance: Ensure all areas, including shelves, cases, sales floors, backrooms, freezers, and coolers, are kept in optimal condition.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and order products as needed to maintain stock.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate, clean, and maintain all relevant equipment and workstations.
  • Workflow Oversight: Occasionally oversee and direct workflow as assigned.
  • Cash Register Operation: Handle cash register duties where applicable.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
  • Prior experience in handling and preparing perishable foods is preferred.
  • Experience in cake decorating is highly desirable.
