Position Overview:
The Occupational Therapist plays a crucial role in executing the physician's directives for occupational therapy services. This professional is expected to deliver comprehensive occupational therapy within a collaborative healthcare environment, aiming to support patients in achieving the most independent and secure lifestyle possible. The Occupational Therapist must apply a solid understanding of growth and development principles in caring for pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients.
Key Responsibilities:
The Occupational Therapist will:
- Exhibit the ability to manage physically demanding tasks, including the safe movement of equipment and patients, adhering to established safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate and secure documentation within the Electronic Medical Record system.
- Employ critical thinking skills in patient assessment and treatment planning.
- Demonstrate proficiency in modalities such as Ultrasound, Iontophoresis, Moist Heat, Paraffin, and Electrical Stimulation, applying them appropriately based on age-specific patient care indicators.
- Understand the musculoskeletal, nervous, and integumentary systems, utilizing age-specific indicators relevant to each structure.
- Identify and address the learning needs of patients and their families.
- Conduct patient evaluations using appropriate functional tests and measures, integrating objective data with social factors, medical stability, activity restrictions, and participation limitations to determine functional deficits. Establish short-term and long-term goals, as well as personal and family objectives, to formulate a comprehensive therapy diagnosis and care plan.
- Collaborate effectively as a team member to assist patients and families throughout their journey in the therapy care system, including evaluation, treatment, and scheduling.
Qualifications:
Education:
The candidate must possess at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program.
Work Experience:
Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Certification/Licensure:
Must hold a permanent or temporary license as an Occupational Therapist from the relevant state health department.
Additional Certifications:
Basic Life Support certification is required within the initial employment period.
Mental Requirements:
The Occupational Therapist must be capable of interpreting and adhering to physician orders, collaborating with colleagues and supervisors, responding to patient needs, and demonstrating initiative in achieving treatment objectives.
