Job Summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our NeuroSurgery team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and administrative support in an ambulatory care setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist providers with patient preparation, examination, and education, ensuring optimal patient flow and best-practice care.
  • Screen patients for preventative care needs, ongoing support, and potential safety concerns, and notify providers of findings.
  • Conduct motivational interviews, including patient screening and coaching on disease management, motivation to change, and community outreach needs.
  • Perform selected patient and laboratory testing, including Point of Care Testing, tuberculosis skin testing, and electrocardiography.
  • Remove sutures/staples, document activities in the patient's electronic medical record, and perform required patient follow-up.
  • Provide escort and assist with patient discharge activities, and fulfill infection prevention and environmental responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Experience working in an ambulatory care medical office or equivalent.
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists within 1 year.
