We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Member in Charge to oversee our School Age Programs at the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating a safe, fun, and educational environment for our program participants.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and implement weekly programs of activities that align with the YMCA Curriculum
- Assist with direct supervision of staff and provide daily guidance
- Use effective discipline and management techniques to ensure a safe and positive environment for children
- Assure activities are safe and fun for children and actively facilitate activities with children
- Establish positive relationships with parents, staff, school faculty, and school principals
- Maintain school and YMCA equipment, supplies, and inventories
- Assist with maintenance of records and data on each child and employee
- Assist with collection of fees and implementation of site budget
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions, including state-mandated courses
- Maintain cleanliness of school and YMCA facilities
- Know the YMCA mission statement and program philosophies
- Effectively handle emergency incidents using mature sound judgment
- Maintain YMCA standards for School Age programs and state licensing requirements
- Support YMCA and grant contract policies and procedures
- Promote and market all YMCA programs, encouraging family participation
- Build relationships with program participants, staff, and volunteers
- Attend required abuse risk management training
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations
- Follow mandated YMCA and grant contracts abuse reporting requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 6 months experience in a before or after school setting
- Completion of all mandatory child care trainings MODS
- Requires six early childhood credits from an accredited university or hold a CDA or CDA equivalent and Directors' credential
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- First Aid, CPR & AED required
- Prefer knowledge of sports and children's programming
- Strong communication, supervisory, and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task, general record keeping skills, and resolve conflict
- Track record of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents
- $16.00 per hour
