Job Description

CD Projekt RED is seeking a highly skilled Technical Art Director to join our team in Boston. As a key member of our visual development team, you will be responsible for driving the development of our tools and pipelines for art, delivering high-quality visual effects, and managing resources.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical art, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the industry. They will be able to work independently to identify and own work, deliver results, and have a keen artistic eye. The candidate will also have extensive experience developing and improving content workflows and pipelines, as well as expert knowledge of UE5 and blueprints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Project Art Director to determine technical solutions to achieve the artistic vision of the game.
  • Hire and manage a team of highly technical employees.
  • Create and enforce best practices for optimization and performance of game art.
  • Work with direct reports on goal setting, career development, and performance.
  • Partner with both Art and Engineering to drive best-in-class visuals.
  • Work closely with artists and engineers on creating optimized, high-quality visual assets, tools, and pipeline solutions.
  • Lead efforts to solve complex technical art challenges.
  • Define and document technical art processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Maintain the content creation pipeline.
  • Write and prepare briefs for work with outsource vendors, review work as necessary.
  • Work with directors and Production to estimate and plan work.
  • Inspire and mentor the Technical Art team, building an environment of creativity, trust, and excellence.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Technical Artist.
  • Previous experience as a Technical Art Director or Principal Technical Artist.
  • Extensive experience developing and improving content workflows and pipelines.
  • Expert knowledge of UE5 and blueprints.
  • A keen artistic eye and the ability to drive visual quality.
  • Solid portfolio demonstrating expertise.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard tools like Houdini, Blender, Substance Designer.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, particularly in understanding the dynamics between art and engineering.
  • Able to deliver and receive feedback in a productive and accountable manner.
  • Avid and passionate gamer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Scripting proficiency in languages relevant to procedural generation, such as Python.
  • Prior experience in AAA titles.

Working Mode:

This job requires working in Boston, US, in a hybrid or full-time capacity.
