Altoona Nursing and Rehabilitation is in search of a part-time Dietary Cook to work from 12:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The primary responsibility of this role is to prepare and serve meals in accordance with seasonal menu plans, ensuring a dining experience that resembles a restaurant setting.

Key Responsibilities:
The Dietary Cook will be expected to:

  • Oversee food preparation and meal service, including the provision of nutritious snacks.
  • Develop and implement a cooking schedule that aligns with meal service times.
  • Assist in the receipt and storage of food and supplies.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with culinary training or relevant experience in therapeutic diets. A minimum of one year of food service experience in a healthcare dietary environment is preferred. Safe Serve certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.

Essential Skills:
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, well-groomed, and maintain a professional demeanor. The ability to lead and guide kitchen staff is essential. Candidates must prioritize the needs and requests of residents, adhering to high standards of food preparation and sanitation.

Physical Requirements:
Must be capable of standing, bending, and walking for at least six hours daily. The role requires the ability to lift, push, or pull a maximum of 50 pounds. Maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment in compliance with federal and state regulations is crucial.

Communication:
Effective professional communication and positive interaction with residents and staff are vital components of this position.
